Diamond Wire Sawing For Heavy Concrete
Wire sawing pulls a loop of diamond-impregnated cable through the concrete. Because the wire wraps around the section instead of reaching in from one side, it can cut through concrete far thicker than any blade, and in shapes a blade cannot follow.

Spec Sheet
It is the method for massive foundations, piers, columns, thick walls and heavily reinforced structures, and for cuts where access is only possible from one side or through cored holes.
- Thickness
- No practical limit set by blade size
- Shapes
- Straight, angled and irregular cuts
- Access
- Through cored holes or around the section
- Vibration
- Very low, protects the remaining structure
- Method
- Wet cutting with slurry capture
- Availability
- 24/7
What Wire Sawing Is Used For
Thick Foundations
Cutting through massive footings and foundation walls.
Piers And Columns
Removing or shortening heavy structural members.
Bridges And Civil Structures
Controlled cuts on heavy reinforced concrete.
Large Openings
Openings too thick for a wall saw.
Industrial Equipment Pads
Removing heavy machine bases.
Underwater And Awkward Access
Cuts where only the wire can reach.
How Wire Sawing Works
First, we core holes at the corners of the cut. The diamond wire is threaded through the holes and around guide pulleys, then driven in a continuous loop under tension. As the wire runs, it pulls through the concrete and steel, leaving a smooth, clean face.
Because the cutting happens in a single smooth motion with very little vibration, the structure that stays is not disturbed.

When To Choose Wire Sawing
If a wall or slab is thicker than a wall saw or slab saw can reach, or if the section is an unusual shape, wire sawing is usually the answer. We will look at the drawings and recommend the most efficient method.
How It Works
A simple process, whether it is one core or a full floor.

Wire Sawing Questions
Don’t see your question? Call us at (604) 340-5659.
How Thick Can A Wire Saw Cut?
Wire sawing is not limited by blade size, so it can cut sections far thicker than wall or slab saws. Send us the dimensions and we will confirm the setup.
Why Are Holes Cored First?
The cores give the wire a path through the concrete and set the exact corners of the cut.
Is Wire Sawing Quiet?
It is quieter and has far less vibration than breaking, which makes it suitable near sensitive structures.
Need Wire Sawing?
Send the size, location and a photo, and we will reply with a price.
